Farm Equipment Appraisals
You’ll appreciate NorCal Valuation’s approach to agricultural equipment appraisals. Working with farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural professionals is one of the reasons we’re in the valuation business and we’re committed to understanding the unique aspects of your agricultural operation so that we can provide equipment appraisals that reflect the high quality of care and attention we’re known for.
Located in the heart of California’s agricultural country, we specialize in valuing farm-wide California agricultural operations: field crops, row crops, fruit and nut orchards, rice ranches, vineyards, ornamentals and aquaculture as well as dairy, livestock and poultry. We also appraise off-field agricultural operations such as transportation, food processing & packing.
We understand, for instance, that tractors, sprayers and harvesters used in orchards and vineyards are specialized equipment and not to be confused with the ag equipment used in row crops or rice ranches. We’re also aware that most of this specialized orchard and vineyard equipment is sold in private party transactions, with limited public sales information available. So researching the right value depends on who you know. We’ve taken the time to develop a network of dependable resources in the specialized ag equipment market, including dealers, manufacturers, and other industry experts. You can depend on us for supportable and well-researched values that make sense.
Whether we are appraising a million-dollar sweet potato operation for a buy/sell dispute, a 5th generation vineyard & winery for property tax appeal, a rice farm for marital dissolution or an extensive multi-crop nut orchard for estate planning, we take the time to develop and present our research in a comprehensive, understandable and ultimately defensible appraisal report that supports values based on your appraisal situation.
After high school, our accredited senior appraiser Jack Young planned to be a county farm extension agent and spend his days walking fields with the farmers, looking over equipment and listening to their histories and plans. He started college as an agricultural major at a small agricultural college, only later turning to accounting. Some of his first auditing assignments were agricultural cooperatives and food processing corporations in the Central Valley of California. Today, he’s delighted to be appraising agricultural equipment throughout California. It’s not an overstatement to say that farmers are some of our favorite customers.
All of our machinery and equipment appraisal reports are the work of an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Machinery & Technical Specialties, the designation awarded by the American Society of Appraisers to educated, experienced and qualified individuals in the specialized equipment appraisal industry.
