At this year’s ASA 2019 Advanced Business Valuation & International Appraisers Conference, Appraisal Review & Management (ARM) is sponsoring some great presentations.
I worked with attorney Angela Somers on a complicated case that recently settled, and I’m especially excited to hear her presentation on Valuation in Litigation: Destruction of the Company Damages.

Where We’ll Be & What We’re Doing
We’ll be out of the office and in NYC for the conference beginning August 21. I’ll be attending the ASA Board of Governors Meeting and the ARM Committee meeting before the conference’s official start, as well as presenting a section on appraisal review and report writing for an MTS class.
In addition, our NCV office manager, Jo Crescent, is taking ARM 201 in preparation for expanding our report review services to appraisers. Report reviews, which focus on content and format, are not appraisal reviews and are not appropriate for all appraisal assignments. Appraisers who are involved in litigation or complicated cases, however, can sometimes benefit from the kind of editorial and organizational help Jo provides.
Her writing experience–journalism degree, editing textbooks, appraisal manuals, and scholarly journals, tutoring writing at an academic learning center, and preparing MTS appraisal reports–combined with her studies and experience with machinery & equipment valuation and USPAP standards provide exceptional support for report review situations. She took the Appraisal Institute review class some time ago and is looking forward to completing ASA’s Appraisal Review certificate program and updating her USPAP training in 2020.
We look forward to helping you with your appraisal situations when we return from New York after Labor Day!
