If you’ve ever had any questions about equipment appraisal, I’m happy to share with you a new, free downloadable brochure from the Appraisal Foundation, entitled Valuation of Machinery and Equipment. This full-color, 20-page booklet is packed full of must-have information; it lists reasons you might need an equipment appraisal, provides important definitions from the American Society of Appraiser’s Valuing Machinery and Equipment manual, and goes on to explain what the equipment appraisal process will look like and what an equipment appraisal report should include.
This thorough brochure from the Appraisal Foundation also addressed the importance of appraiser independence and answers a series of questions including how to find a qualified machinery and equipment appraiser as well as what those qualifications constitute of.
Although most of the information in the brochure can be found here at NorCalValuation.com, it’s great to have it all gathered up in one place. This brochure certainly fulfills its purpose as stated in the introductory material:
The purpose of this brochure is to help you understand a machinery and equipment appraisal. After reviewing this brochure, you will understand the definition of a credible appraisal, the appraisal process, the elements of a credible appraisal report, the importance of appraiser independence, and how to proceed if you think a correction or clarification should be made to the appraisal report.
This brochure was produced by The Appraisal Foundation. The Foundation sets the Congressionally-authorized standards and qualifications for real estate appraisers, and provides voluntary guidance on recognized valuation methods and techniques for all valuation professionals. This work advances the profession by ensuring appraisals are independent, consistent, and objective.
