Got another call this morning from a local bank in Salinas, California, for an agricultural equipment appraisal.
The more appraisals I do down in the Salinas and Central Coast agricultural area (including the counties of Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura), the more I appreciate the level of agricultural the local farmers are sustaining. I heard recently that California’s Central Coast is one of the most highly mechanized agricultural areas in the world. Whether that is true or not, there’s plenty of antidotal evidence to support that claim.
And the soil there! Well, let’s just say that anyone who owns ag acreage in the central coast, especially there in the Salinas area, probably has some of the most beautiful and fertile soil available since New York City got paved over several centuries back. Let’s hope that kind of development never comes to the Central California coast!
The official Central Coast map seems to vary, with the most stringent including only the counties of Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo and Monterey Counties, and others adding in Alameda, Contra Costs, Santa Clara, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Cruz and San Benito counties. I’ve been appraising farm equipment from Salinas into Ventura County and from the driver’s seat, each of these farming counties seem to flow into the next from lettuce and leafy green fields to the darker green of broccoli, the sweeping vineyards, the berries, bell peppers and varieties of nursery products such as bedding plants, woody ornamental and fields of cutting flowers, all the way down into Ventura County with its endless tomato fields that remind me of ag equipment appraisals in the Sacramento Valley, where we know summer is well and truly here when we smell the piles of tomatoes on the corner of the county roads where the trailers lose a little of their load.
If you have farm equipment or any other equipment appraisal needs down along the Central Coast for your farms of any types, Wineries, Dairies, Vineyards, Orchards, Cattle Ranches, Cold Storage Facilities, Fertilizer Production, Recycling, or Manufacturing Facilities, I hope you’ll give me a call.
As summer is coming on, along with that ripe tomato smell, I’ll be looking forward to equipment appraisals along the Central Coast of California, whether in Salinas, Santa Cruz, Monterey, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, San Simon, Cambria, Lompoc or any point along the way.
